A recent photo taken by Rick Beauregard of the refurbished 13th century Chapeaucornu Castle in Vignieu, Isère, France, the area where André Jarret grew up.

***

ANDRÉ JARRET dit Beauregard...  arrived in New France in August 1665 as a lieutenant of the Carignan Regiment.  A provincial nobleman, he was the nephew of Captain Antoine Pécaudy de Contrecoeur.  He was born in August 1642 near Vignieu, Rual de Chapeaucornu, Dauphiné/Isère.  The old province of Dauphiné shared a border with Italy in the southeast corner of France.

Considering Jarret sailed out of the port of LaRochelle May 13, 1665, and didn't arrive in Québec util the 18th of August, the trip on the 300-ton ship L'Aigle d'Or (Golden Eagle) must have been an arduous one.

On the 1666 census, André Jarret is listed as a lieutenant.  His half-brother, François Jarret de Verchères, born in September of 1632, was an ensign in the Pécaudy platoon as he was a nephew of Pécaudy de Contrecoeur, also.

In August 1674, André Jarret was conceded a fief consisting of three small isles in the St. Lawrence River opposite Verchères by Louis de Buade, Count of Frontenac.  Jarret named the isles Beauregard as they are still known today.

André Jarret was killed by the Iroquois around in May 1691 in Verchères.

The genealogy...

Each indentation indicates another generation, ie: Anne Jarret is the daughter of André Jarret and Marguerite Anthiaume; Marie Tetreau is the daughter of Anne Jarret and Joseph-Marie Tetreau, and so on.

A carat (>) indicates there is at least another sibling who is an ancestor, ie:  Anne Jarret has a brother, Joseph Jarret, who is also an ancestor.
